Chris Humphrey has been named as the new goalkeeper coach for the Ghanaian national team, the Black Stars. This appointment is part of a major restructuring that the new head coach, Chris Hughton, is undertaking as he seeks to turn around the team’s fortunes.
Humphrey will be replacing Richard Kingson, who has been deemed to be lacking in the necessary skill set required for the position.

Kingson was brought on board during the tenure of former head coach CK Akonnor, along with other former players, to assist in the management of the team. However, Hughton is said to have identified inadequacies within the technical team and has therefore recommended the hiring of a new goalkeeper coach.
According to sources at the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Hughton’s decision to overhaul the technical department may have been informed by his year-long stint as technical advisor to the team.
The GFA source went on to say that the coach has recommended the hiring of his own goalkeeper’s trainer.

In addition to the appointment of Humphrey, Hughton has also hired a new video analyst as part of his efforts to strengthen the technical department. The head coach is set to be unveiled by the GFA on March 20, 2023.
The Black Stars have been struggling in recent times, and the new head coach will be tasked with reviving the team’s fortunes. Hughton will be hoping that the changes he is making to the technical department will have a positive impact on the team’s performances.
